Belgian National Heart League - Unmasking Belgium's silent killer
The Belgian National Heart League is organizing every year a big campaign around prevention of cardiovascular diseases. 2009’s theme was hypertension, also known as the silent killer. Indeed high blood pressure – or hypertension - is the biggest single cause of death worldwide through strokes and heart attacks, causing the death of 15.000 Belgians each year. To encourage the Belgian population to regularly check their blood pressure, the Belgian National Heart League is organizing a yearly city-tour to invite Belgians to test their cardiovascular risk through blood pressure tests, physical condition tests, and other medical tests in the presence of doctors and nurses.
