Hill+Knowlton Strategies helped Eucomed, the voice of the medical technology industry in Europe, to create a visually attractive and interactive way to communicate on medical devices. The objective of the MedTech Museum which was launched in October 2009 was to raise awareness of the medical devices sector in Europe. Visitors to the museum including the media, political stakeholders, industry representatives, patients, students and the general public are offered a combination of human interest stories with innovative technologies in a virtual space.


Insight


Visitors to the website are invited to enter the museum and explore its different floors. On the museum’s first floor visitors are provided with basic information about medical devices and the medical devices sector. The second floor of the museum examines the role of medical devices through various disease areas and provides visitors with both patients and designers perspectives. Finally, the third floor of the museum entitled the “Gallery of the Future” displays the most cutting-edge technologies at the service of medicine. It provides visitors with an insight into ongoing developments of a number of medical technologies including nanotechnology as well as the latest technologies available in the replacement of organs.


Expertise


Hill+Knowlton Strategies designed and implemented the overall MedTech Museum concept in collaboration with Eucomed and Morris & Chapman (website design & building). Thanks to its expertise and experience, H&K was able not only to provide guidance on both the structure and content, but also to serve as the coordinator of the whole project allowing to efficiently develop this excellent communications tool in a very short timeframe.


Impact


Hill+Knowlton Strategies' support laid the foundations for Eucomed’s MedTech Museum, helping to raise awareness for the medical devices sector in Europe. H+K’s concept has since the museum’s creation enabled Eucomed to use this innovative platform to showcase future innovations in the medical technology sector including temporary exhibitions.
