H+K to hold luncheon debate on copyright reform
On Wednesday 5th March, Hill+Knowlton Strategies will host a lunchtime debate on 'EU copyright reform in a year of political change' at our offices in Brussels.
The guest speaker will be Ms Maria Martin-Prat, Head of the Copyright Unit in the European Commission's DG Internal Market. Participants will discuss the state-of-play of the European Commission’s review of the copyright framework, along with how upcoming EU institutional changes could determine the scope for potential reform in the coming 2014-2019 term.
Following the Licences for Europe stakeholder dialogue and the ongoing public consultation procedure, the Commission looks set to announce what changes are needed to bring the EU’s copyright framework up to date. Any proposed reforms will need to be considered and taken forward under new political leadership, both in the Commission and European Parliament.
In view of the broad range of societal and business interests concerned by copyright policy, we intend to open a debate on the likely direction of reform and on the institutional developments likely to influence the extent and pace of progress in this area.
