Joost Vantomme is Director with H+K Strategies. Joost has over 20 years’ experience in Belgian, European and international legal, regulatory and public policy matters. Joost focuses on regulatory and policy issues involving areas such as internal market, competition, market liberalization, telecommunications and other network industries, customs, e-commerce and data protection. His European and international outreach is complemented by his in depth knowledge of the Belgian federal and regional political and business environments.
Joost is a frequent speaker at conferences on regulatory policy topics and the author of papers in the regulatory, legal & advocacy domain.
Joost started his career in the legal area. His track record includes senior in-house management positions in network industries such as electronic communications and postal services. He also did policy work in a ministerial cabinet of the Belgian government. His most recent environment was the postal and delivery industry where he served bpost during 12 years and became director regulatory affairs in 2004.
Joost is very knowledgeable in European affairs. He was chairing the European Affairs committee of PostEurop (European association of incumbent postal operators) and he was board member of FEDMA (Federation of European direct and interactive marketing). Joost also took part in the UPU (Universal Postal Union, part of the UN) in leading regulatory and policy negotiations for the sector.
Joost holds a Master’s degree in Economic Business Law, a Master’s degree in Law and a Diploma in Teaching Law (Universities of Leuven/Poitiers and Louvain).
His mother tongue is Dutch and he is fluent in French, English and German.
