Brussels, Monday 03 July 2022 — Hill+Knowlton Strategies Belgium (H+K), one of Brussels’ leading integrated communications and public affairs consultancies, is pleased to announce the appointment of its CEO Karel Van Eetvelt and Strategy Director George Candon to the boards of the British Chamber of Commerce in Belgium (BritCham) and American Chamber of Commerce to the EU (AmCham EU) respectively.
Van Eetvelt assumed his BritCham board responsibilities in May while Candon’s mandate at AmCham EU commenced 01 July.
Van Eetvelt brings a wealth of experience as an accomplished Chief Executive Officer with a strong track record in negotiation, coaching, business development, press communication and change management. His previous roles include CEO of Unizo, Febelfin and RSC Anderlecht, President of VDAB, the Social-Economic Council of Flanders and board member of the National Bank of Belgium. He is a president of the board of Sporta and Lotto-Dstny Pro Cycling and board member of Matexi, amongst others.
With almost two decades’ experience in the Brussels bubble, Candon has been actively engaged with AmCham EU for some ten years. With extensive experience in corporate reputation, policy communication and management, he previously served as Managing Director at FTI Consulting, global head of communications at International Post Corporation, and Corporate Practice Director at Weber Shandwick. He is the Chair of the Irish Club of Belgium and a board member of the Leuven Center for Irish Studies.
